Prolific Shoplifter arrested, charged and remanded into custody

Last week Doncaster East NPT were made aware of an unknown male entering the Spar shop on Doncaster Road Armthorpe and committing thefts almost daily. The store were unable to identify the male and were concerned as his offending often included threats towards staff.

The male was frequently changing his appearance, taking to wearing Glasses and covering his face, but maintained his usual clothing. 

A small operation was planned with officers deployed in the local area, to see if they could locate anyone matching the description.

Whilst Officers were in the area they were made aware of a shoplifting that had taken place at COOP, Hatfield Lane, Armthorpe.

CCTV at the shop was viewed and Officers recognised it was the same male from the previous Spar thefts but his identity was still unknown.

The search was on, with Officers determined to stop this shoplifter once and for all.

Within 30 minutes Officers swooped on a male walking in Armthorpe who perfectly matched the description. A search took place where further stolen items were found, and even the glasses used in his cunning disguise.

The male was identified as also being responsible for numerous thefts at One Stop in Wheatley, and the Sainsburys, Edenthorpe. 

He was arrested, interviewed and later charged with 26 Thefts and 1 Assault.

He is now remanded into custody.
