Recent burglaries

Good morning Residents,

We have received several reports of burglaries in the Crookes area of Sheffield.

In particular houses of multiple occupancy and houses under renovation.

A few top tips to keep you and your property safe.

  • Make sure all windows and doors are locked when leaving the house. A large proportion of burglaries are what we class as “sneak ins” where the intruder accesses the property through an insecure window or door.
  • Check your door locks are Anti-snap, Anti-bump locks. TS007 is the recognised standard lock.
  • Removing keys from sight of the door and fitting an internal letterbox cover to prevent anyone being able to reach through it.
  • Ensure valuables, including TVs, computers, car keys, handbags and work tools cannot be seen from outside.
  • Tell your neighbours when you are away - even when it's just for a few days.
  • Buy timer switches for lights or radios to make the home look occupied.
  • Mark valuables with Smart Water so they could be returned if lost/stolen and later found.
  • Use your burglar alarm if you have one.
  • Lock ladders away, tools and other garden items that burglars could use to assist their entry.
  • Install video doorbell and driveway cameras.
  • If you see anyone acting suspicious around any premise, call 999 with a description of the offenders and their direction of travel.
  • Thank you for reading

    Kind regards

    North West Neighbourhood Team.
