Good morning Residents, We have received several reports of burglaries in the Crookes area of Sheffield. In particular houses of multiple occupancy and houses under renovation. A few top tips to keep you and your property safe. Make sure all windows and doors are locked when leaving the house. A large proportion of burglaries are what we class as “sneak ins” where the intruder accesses the property through an insecure window or door.Check your door locks are Anti-snap, Anti-bump locks. TS007 is the recognised standard lock.Removing keys from sight of the door and fitting an internal letterbox cover to prevent anyone being able to reach through it.Ensure valuables, including TVs, computers, car keys, handbags and work tools cannot be seen from outside.Tell your neighbours when you are away - even when it's just for a few days.Buy timer switches for lights or radios to make the home look occupied.Mark valuables with Smart Water so they could be returned if lost/stolen and later found.Use your burglar alarm if you have one.Lock ladders away, tools and other garden items that burglars could use to assist their entry.Install video doorbell and driveway cameras.If you see anyone acting suspicious around any premise, call 999 with a description of the offenders and their direction of travel.
