Speeding Operation - Thorne

Following concerns raised at the last Thorne and Moorends community engagement meeting we have undertaken a speeding operation on Ellison Street in Thorne. 

The speed limit for this road is 20mph - we are aware that vehicles do exceed this limit - on this occasion, 32 vehicles were monitored to which 8 were contravening the speed limit. Those that contravened the speed limit will be contacted by our central ticket office.

When driving, a few miles per hour can mean the difference between life and death. The faster someone drives, the less time they have to stop if something unexpected happens.

Several motorists used their headlights to warn oncoming vehicles of the work we were undertaking - we were informed of this by those that passed.

These speeding operations will continue, and we will continue to publish the results.
