A male was last night charged and remanded in connection with two counts of theft from retail premises in Thorne town centre.

It was reported at around 5pm on Wednesday 11th September that a male had entered the B&M store in Thorne and helped himself to a large quantity of household items before leaving the store without offering any payment.

The male was detained 30 minutes later at a location in Thorne town centre. 

Further enquiries showed that the same male had also stolen alcohol from Sainsbury's on King Street earlier that morning. 

He was transported to Doncaster custody suite where he was charged and remanded - he will appear at Doncaster Magistrates court this morning.
