Two stolen vehicles recovered

Officers on patrol in Thorne and Moorends this afternoon located two stolen vehicles - both had been stolen within the past 24 hours.

The first vehicle which had been stolen the previous evening from an address in Auckley was located on a residential housing estate in Thorne - the second vehicle which had been stolen from Armthorpe was located in Moorends.

Both vehicle's recovered and are currently awaiting forensic examination along with further evidential enquiries.

We are working hard to find those responsible who commit these thefts and bring them to justice but would always remind people to follow some simple tips to help protect their vehicles:

- Lock your vehicle – even when filling up, parked on your drive, or if you are in close proximity to it

- Keep the keys safe, out of view when at home, and away from your front door

- Lock your vehicle – even when filling up, parked on your drive, or if you are in close proximity to it

- Park responsibly by avoiding parking in dark and secluded areas

- Fit good in-car security locks to help prevent your vehicle being driven away even if a thief gains entry

- If there is an emergency or crime in progress, always call 999
