Two further stolen vehicles located

Two further stolen vehicles have been located and recovered by officers from your Doncaster East neighbourhood policing team.

At around 12.45pm yesterday afternoon a call was received from the owner of a Mercedes van stating that their vehicle had just been stolen from their driveway in Thorne. Officers reacted and were quickly behind the stolen vehicle and a second vehicle which was in convoy (which later transpired had recently been stolen from an address in North Yorkshire). After a short pursuit both vehicles were abandoned and the offenders ran before being detained by officers.

Both vehicle's recovered and are currently awaiting forensic examination along with further evidential enquiries.

We are working hard to find those responsible who commit these thefts and bring them to justice but would always remind people to follow some simple tips to help protect their vehicles:

- Lock your vehicle – even when filling up, parked on your drive, or if you are in close proximity to it

- Keep the keys safe, out of view when at home, and away from your front door

- Lock your vehicle – even when filling up, parked on your drive, or if you are in close proximity to it

- Park responsibly by avoiding parking in dark and secluded areas

- Fit good in-car security locks to help prevent your vehicle being driven away even if a thief gains entry

- If there is an emergency or crime in progress, always call 999
